Wether
The climatic conditions on Santorini Greece are the same as in the whole Cyclades region.
From April to August, the weather in Santorini is bright and sunny. From September and on, it is not rare to see some cloudy days. The rainfalls are very rare.
The humidity level is very high. The days when you can see Crete clearly are really rare but not inexistent!! The weather is good enough to take good pictures of the volcano.
Santorini Beaches
The most famous beaches of the island of Santorini Greece are Perissa, Kamari, Monolithos and the Red Beach. The beaches of Kamari, Perissa and Monolithos have black sand and deep blue waters. They are situated on the east side of the island and in the tourist areas of the island. These areas offer many hotels, taverns, cafes, bars and beach-bars. The Red Beach near Akrotiri is located in a quieter area. It is however the most famous beach of the island, and attracts many people.
Perissa Beach
Perissa is situated 15 km south-east of Fira. You will find a very touristy but amazing endless black sandy beach with an enormous rock called Mesa Vouno rising from the sea. It creates an impressive landscape, especially at night when the rock is lighted.
The village, abandoned during the winter, offers lot of rooms, restaurant and bars.
Kamari Santorini:
Kamari is situated 10 km south-east of Fira. Kamari is situated in the opposite side of Perissa, with the enormous rock (Mesa Vouno) in the middle.
The landscape is very similar to the endless black sandy beach of Perissa. The difference is that Kamari is not built in the same manner. Here, the settlement lines the beach. It is also much more crowded and for that reason, you will find a larger choice of rooms to let, hotels, tavernas, cafe, bars and night clubs, as well as all kinds of water sports activities on the beach.
Red Beach Santorini:
The Red Beach is a beach composed of black and red volcanic rocks, near Akrotiri.
To get there, you need to use a car and then to walk. It is nevertheless a beautiful beach and is worth the trip.
You can also go to the White Beach, which is accessible by boat from Akrotiri.
Monolithos Santorini:
Monolithos beach is the less crowded. It is situated near the airport. The area has a very few rooms to let and some taverns.
