Zante Ionian islands,Greece.

Zante Ionian islands,Greece.
Zakynthos (or Zante) is painted just like the poet in his poetry: a place of natural wonders, beautiful beaches with very different landscapes and also due to the shape of the island .
The western part of Zakynthos, mountainous and rocky, has remained intact while the beautiful beaches to the east are the destination of many tourists, especially during high season. Zakynthos is the third of the Ionian islands in order of size, here you will find plenty to see and beautiful beaches on which to relax. But the feature that makes it famous are certainly specimens of an endangered sea turtle, the loggerhead turtle. In 1999 the Bay of Laganas, where many turtles come to lay their eggs, has been declared a marine national park and were introduced severe restrictions on beach access from both land and sea. To preserve this endangered species every visitor to Zante can learn about the current regulation in protected areas and try to contribute by respecting it.Along the rocky western coasts the seals Monachus also plays, also protected and safeguarded.

The city of Zakynthos
Zakynthos is the capital city and main port of the island. Many of the Venetian palaces that flank it are unfortunately destroyed during the earthquake of 1953, you can still admire the citadel perched on a hill about 2.5 km from the town of Bochalia. Despite the many tourists who walk the streets of the city, Zakynthos maintains its typical greek atmosphere and extremely pleasant. There are many things to see, from the Byzantine Museum in the Museum of Sacred Art in addition to the characteristics Bochalia churches throughout the city.
Excursions and beaches on the island of Zakynthos
Many of the attractions of the island both in terms of natural and water sports. There are many beautiful beaches where you can relax and fascinating places to see at least once in their life.
If the Bay of Laganas is perhaps too crowded, the beach resort of Keri is a much more pleasant even if the stony beach is quite narrow. From here you can take boat trips to see the many fascinating natural caves (some visited only by swimming) and stacks.
Placed between Agios Nikolaos and Cape Skinari Blue Caves are one of the most famous natural attractions in Zakynthos and can be reached by sea. They consist of special geological formations that have created a series of caves along the northwest coast of the island, and owe their name to the special reflexes that water takes in them.
For beach-lovers suggest the Vassilikos peninsula and the tip of the east coast Banana beach with its long stretch of golden sand. On the tip of the peninsula Agios Nikolaos is another place to enjoy the sea and the beach with sun beds and umbrellas.
If you have a means of transport you can reach the inlets of the west coast including Limnionas and Kambi, head to Agios Nikolaos or addentrarvi in the picturesque hinterland north of Zakynthos, where you can find pristine pine forests, picturesque villages and a rural life that has kept many of the their traditions.
