Syros
 The island of Syros is the center of the Cyclades, has small beaches and narrow, neoclassical villas and residences, large public buildings and gardens, its past is glorious and is visited by a selected tourism, almost all greek.
The capital Ermoupoli was the biggest port of Greece, before his destiny was changed to the 800, the opening of the Corinth Canal and the consequent development of the port of Piraeus. It remains an important center for the maritime traffic of the islands and is the capital of the entire archipelago. Ermoupoli was a prosperous city, with textile factories, tanneries, factories for the manufacture of wrought iron, coming to have a middle class, rich and influential. Public buildings were built in classical style, thanks to the collaboration of foreign architects, noble houses were decorated with wrought iron balconies and erected elegant villas inhabited by amateurs, bankers, rich merchants. The island has long Venetian rule during the Turkish free port and center for the spread of Catholicism in the Aegean. Ermoupolis well worth a visit for the architecture and the many churches for the many craft shops (leather sandals, watercolors, prints) for the typical sweets pastry shops, loukumia, a sort of pancakes with jelly flavored with rose or bergamot , covered with powdered sugar on top and sometimes pieces of almond and chalvadopites (a kind of nougat local) and to the stalls selling natural sponges.

In Syros are also the only casino in the Cyclades, open in high season from 20 to 6 am. The slots are open in the afternoon.

Monuments and museums to see
 A Ermoupoli: the Archaeological Museum, the Town Hall, The Cultural Center, the Art Gallery of Cyclades, the municipal theater, the Chalandriani (a cemetery) and the Caves of Ferekidis, both near Ano Syros, the baroque church of San Giorgio.

The beaches of Syros
 To reach the most beautiful you inoltrarvi hinterland, indoor climbing mountains and then descend to the streets in search of several creeks that are jewels of nature.
 The beach is a great beach Galissas however organized, crescent shaped sheltered from the wind. The sand is dark, but very fine, the water is clear and calm.
 To the north, reached by a boat that leaves from Kini find Grammata, Lia, Varvaroussa, Aetos, very beautiful.
